Benefits for Your Skin
SkinPen is FDA-cleared to improve the appearance of facial acne scars and wrinkles on the neck. Treatment can help soften visible textural irregularities, creating a smoother, more even-looking surface over time.
Because SkinPen uses mechanical microneedling rather than heat-based energy, it offers a distinct approach to skin remodeling. Our team assesses your skin and treatment history to determine whether it is appropriate for you.
How It Works
The fine needles create small treatment channels that initiate the skin’s healing response. This progresses through three overlapping stages:
- Inflammation: The initial response begins the repair process.
- Proliferation: New tissue components develop as the skin repairs.
- Remodeling: Collagen reorganizes over time, contributing to improvements in the appearance of treated scars and wrinkles.
Results develop gradually, allowing the skin’s own repair processes to guide the change.
The Treatment Experience
We begin by cleansing your skin and may apply a topical anesthetic for comfort. Once the area is prepared, we gently pass the SkinPen device across the selected treatment region.
You may feel light pressure, vibration, or a prickling sensation. Treatment typically takes approximately 30 minutes, with additional time for consultation and preparation.
Results & Treatment Planning
Some patients notice an improvement after their first session, while a series allows for more progressive remodeling. Four or more treatments may be recommended, depending on your concerns and response.
Improvements can continue for three to six months after the final treatment. We review your progress throughout the series and discuss a maintenance plan when appropriate. Results vary, and scars are softened rather than completely removed.
Recovery & Aftercare
Temporary redness similar to a mild sunburn is common. Dryness, tightness, or peeling may also occur, with these responses generally settling within 24–72 hours, although recovery varies.
We provide specific instructions for cleansing, moisturizing, sun protection, and resuming makeup or active skincare. Following this guidance helps support healing and protect your results.
