Laser Hair Reduction

Hair reduction at Medical Aesthetics by OWM offers a lasting way to manage unwanted hair, with less time spent shaving and waxing. We use intense pulsed light (IPL) technology to reduce hair growth gradually, helping you achieve smoother skin and a simpler daily routine.

Often grouped with laser treatments, IPL uses broad-spectrum light rather than a laser. Our approach focuses on long-term hair reduction, with a treatment plan tailored to your skin tone, hair color, and the areas you wish to address.

Smoother Skin, Less Daily Maintenance

IPL targets pigment within the hair follicle, where absorbed light becomes heat that disrupts future growth. Because hair grows in different stages, a series of treatments is needed to reach follicles during their active growth phase.

Treatment may offer:

  • Less unwanted hair, with progressively reduced growth across a treatment series.
  • Less frequent shaving and waxing, simplifying your personal care routine.
  • Finer regrowth, making remaining hair easier to manage.
  • Convenient treatment of larger areas, including the back, abdomen, thighs, and legs.

We also treat selected areas of the face, underarms, chest, and bikini line.

The OWM Experience

We begin with a consultation to assess your skin, hair, medical history, and treatment goals. IPL targets hair pigment, so darker hair generally responds better, while skin tone and recent tanning influence treatment suitability and settings.

Our system delivers a rapid succession of light pulses, allowing efficient coverage of larger areas. Integrated cooling helps protect the skin’s surface and improve comfort throughout your appointment.

During treatment, you may feel warmth or a brief snapping sensation. We adjust the settings according to your skin response and comfort, with appointments typically lasting 15–90 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

Preparing for Treatment

We provide personalized instructions before your first session. These generally include:

  • Avoiding waxing and tweezing for at least six weeks, so the follicle remains available for treatment.
  • Avoiding tanning and unnecessary sun exposure, including self-tanning products.
  • Following our shaving instructions, which help prepare the treatment area without extracting the hair.
  • Sharing any medication or skincare changes, so we can assess their relevance to your treatment.

Results & Ongoing Care

You may notice reduced growth after early sessions, with further improvement as treatment progresses. The number and spacing of appointments depend on the area, your hair growth cycle, and your individual response.

Our goal is a meaningful, lasting reduction in unwanted hair, while recognizing that some regrowth can occur and maintenance appointments may be helpful. Temporary redness or sensitivity is possible, and we explain aftercare, sun protection, and potential risks before treatment.
