Biological Fillers

A natural approach to tissue support and rejuvenation.

At OWM Integrative Wellness, biological fillers are part of our personalized approach to regenerative care. Using materials derived from the body or biological sources, these treatments explore ways to support natural healing processes, improve tissue health, and address certain orthopedic and aesthetic concerns.

What Are Biological Fillers?

Biological fillers are materials derived from your own blood or tissue, or from carefully screened donor sources.

Unlike traditional cosmetic fillers that primarily add volume, biological treatments may contain growth factors, proteins, or cellular components involved in tissue maintenance and repair.

At OWM, these therapies are considered for selected joint, soft tissue, and skin rejuvenation applications.

What Types of Biological Fillers Does OWM Offer?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) & SuperShot® PRP: Uses concentrated platelets from your own blood containing growth factors involved in natural healing. PRP may help relieve symptoms associated with certain joint and tendon conditions and may support skin rejuvenation.

Patient-Derived Cellular Materials: Uses biological material collected from your own fat tissue or bone marrow. These approaches are being studied for tissue repair, but their ability to regenerate damaged joints or cartilage has not been established.

Placenta-Derived Matrices: Uses processed donor-derived biological materials. Certain products have established wound-care applications, while injectable uses for joint or nerve repair remain investigational.

Tissue Repair Peptides: Compounds such as BPC-157 and thymosin beta-4 are being researched for their potential roles in tissue repair. Their safety and effectiveness for these applications have not been established.

What Are the Potential Benefits?

Depending on the treatment, biological therapies may:

  • Support the body’s natural healing processes
  • Help relieve symptoms of certain joint and tendon conditions
  • Support improvements in skin texture and appearance
  • Offer personalized, targeted treatment options

Benefits vary by procedure, and some biological therapies remain investigational.

What to Expect

Your treatment begins with an evaluation of your health, concerns, and goals.

Depending on the therapy, a biological sample may be collected and prepared for treatment. For certain orthopedic procedures, OWM uses real-time ultrasound guidance to help ensure accurate placement.

Your provider will explain the treatment process, potential risks, and expected outcomes.
