What it is.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) involves breathing medical oxygen inside a pressurized chamber, increasing the amount of oxygen dissolved in blood plasma and available to tissues. At OWM, we use a hard-shell chamber capable of 2.0 ATA, twice normal atmospheric pressure, to deliver treatment within an individualized care plan. In appropriate clinical settings, HBOT supports oxygen delivery to compromised tissues and wound healing.
Who it’s for.
Patients being evaluated for selected wound-healing concerns, radiation-related tissue injury, or other recognized hyperbaric indications. At OWM, we also consider HBOT within cognitive health, chronic illness, longevity, and physical recovery plans, including care following regenerative procedures. These broader applications have varying levels of evidence and require a discussion of your diagnosis, goals, and existing treatment.
What to expect.
You recline inside our spacious, temperature-controlled chamber while pressure increases gradually to the prescribed level. Our team helps you equalize ear pressure, explains the safety procedures, and monitors your session. Treatments generally last 60–90 minutes, with pressure and oxygen exposure selected according to your clinical needs.
Your plan may begin with a series of 10 appointments, while selected protocols involve longer courses. We review your response along the way rather than promising a particular outcome from a fixed number of sessions.
Important to know.
Before treatment, we review your lung health, medications, seizure history, and ability to equalize ear and sinus pressure. An untreated pneumothorax prevents treatment. Potential risks include ear or sinus injury, temporary vision changes, and, rarely, oxygen-related seizures; strict chamber safety instructions are essential throughout care.
